A massive protest by parents and students from the Notre Dame School in Plymouth has sparked outrage in the community as it banned pupils from wearing ‘very short and inappropriate’ bottoms during PE class.
The protest comprised of many holding placards that called the school to stop sexualizing young girls and also reminded them to keep their rules away from other people’s bodies too.
Local media outlets confirmed how the protest came about after a letter was recently released by the school’s principal who barred the students from wearing the garment during their PE class.point 444 |
Moreover, many explained how the letter was simply unjustified as it also entailed a detailed description of a dress code that would soon change many things relating to the girls’ dressing.point 165 | 1
In the same way, the new rules went about arguing how the students were no longer allowed to wear such extremely revealing and short bottoms during their physical exercise classes as it was just inappropriate.

“We can’t let our students feel like they are sunbathing or present for a holiday camp,” she went on to add.point 106 | “We can’t allow them to wear such short attire, instead of leggings on PE days,” the letter went on claiming.point 214 | 1
But that clarification was simply not good enough for plenty of parents, who called the matter unfair on so many grounds. In fact, the entire ordeal sent matters into a totally new direction as some stated that the same rules were not provided for the Notre Dame school for boys.
After the protest, the pupils were threatened with detention by the school’s administration, in case they showed up to school wearing those shorts again. Another student even went to the extent of calling the matter an event that truly sexualized young girls. Hence, she requested an immediate end to it.
