What we learn in school is important but this is a fact that no one in school teaches us the real skills an adult would need in their regular life.
Yes, we may go out to play football, or we may at times get stuck while calculating some numbers and thanks to our school that taught us to deal with it. But what about other things like how to bargain for things, or how to cook or how to deal with a cop.
Yeah, I know, You must be thinking that which school in the world teaches things like these. Probably none, but this school conducted an “adulting day” and taught students various skills they would need in the adult life.
Bullitt Central High School in Kentucky has taken the step to help their senior students to prepare for real life.
The workshop was held in school where the kids were educated with skills that are going to help them in adult life. School in the workshop covered topics from dealing with people to cooking.
There were 11 different skills workshop conducted by the school and the last year students were allowed to opt any 3. Students who chose car maintenance workshop were also taught how to change tires as well.
There was a cooking class where students were taught how to make dorm room friendly meals and quick meals that can satisfy their stomach. Well, this is one of the most important things in adult life, isn’t it?
Making a budget is also one of the important things in the life of an adult and the same topic was also covered in the workshop.
These students probably would have been very lucky because most of us had to waste quite some time in learning all these skills on our own. Life would have been better if we had someone to teach us all this.
