There are many clinical trials that have been conducted on the obese people who have come forward to test the brain chip that will zap the brain of the people when they get the craving of overeating.

NeuroPace is the company where the idea of making this chip was conceived and came out to be the product. This is a medical technology company. This chip is implanted in the brain to track the activities and supervise the way it works.
When you get a thought to overeat, this chip will give a mild shock to the brain. There is a pattern that is detected by this chip in the brain and this type of feeling occurs prior to seizure. This will stop the seizure before it starts.
A study that was conducted by the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences have shown something of a similar kind which stops the obese people to binge on food.
The tests are carried out on the mice and shown that this chip has the ability to put an end to the uncontrollable behavior of eating something.
Scientists from Stanford University is experimenting and trying to find out how this works for the people who have loss of control eating. The trial would be conducted in the coming five years to find out six different test subjects on how to implant this chip into the brain for around 18 months.

Researchers are trying to find out whether implantation of this chip is safe and practically possible or not and see how effectively it works.
Many developers stated that not many people would follow this procedure to lose weight and this can be used by the people whose Body Mass Index is 45 and who have not lost weight even after going through the gastric bypass surgery or cognitive behavioral therapy.
There are trials that are conducted on the same kind of approach which is known as deep brain stimulation (DBS) to give a treatment for obesity. The tests revealed that it controls the desire for having more food and improve metabolism.
