Two time Academy Award Best Actor winner Sean Penn is reported to have married his girlfriend who is 31 years his junior.
If true, this would be Penn’s third marriage.
The news first broke out via an Instagram post by Irena Medavoy. She is a philanthropist, and has personal connections with the movie industry via her husband Mike who has produced several movies including “Black Swan”.
Irena tagged Leila George, Penn’s girlfriend, and mentioned Penn via a hashtag mention because he does not have an account. Irena congratulated the couple, and said that both she and Mike was happy to hear that the two were getting married.
Irena seemed to be aware of the fact that she was breaking the news for the world since she said she was introducing everyone to Penn’s marriage. She endorsed the marriage by saying that the two seem like a match made in heaven, a couple who found their true soulmates.
Because of the way Instagram is operated, every post must be accompanied with an image of sorts. Medavoy posted the picture of a large sapphire ring which is likely the marriage ring that the couple have decided upon.
The couple of 31 year age difference first started dating in 2016. Just this week, the couple were seen in Malibu. The couple was joined by Hopper, Penn’s son who is around the same age as George.
George herself also has familial relations in Hollywood. She is the daughter of Vincent D’Onofrio, known for his roles in works such as “Full Metal Jacket”, “Daredevil” and “Law and Order: Criminal Intent”.
Penn is no stranger to celebrity marriage. Both of his previous marriages were with Hollywood figures. His first marriage with Madonna in 1985 was one of the biggest Hollywood news of the day because both of them were such big stars. However, it ended soon in 1989.
Penn’s second marriage with actress Robin Wright sustained for a much longer time. After the two married in 1996, it continued for 14 years before they filed for divorce in 2010. From 2013 to 2015, Penn dated actress Charlize Theron before beginning date George a year after.
