A 5-year-old girl went missing from her Tennessee home while her mother and grandmother were planting flowers outside their home.
An Endangered Child Alert has been issued by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation for Summer Moon-Utah Wells on June 15 after her family reported that she disappeared from the basement of their home.
Summer’s father, Don Wells, told WVLT that the girl had been planting flowers with her mom and grandmother before going inside the house.
The young girl was last seen around 6:30 pm wearing a pink shirt and grey shorts.
Don said that they believe Summer was abducted but investigators haven’t shared any theories about what could have happened to the girl.
“She was planting flowers with her mother and her grandmother and she wanted to go into the house — wanted to go downstairs and play with her toys,” Don expressed.
“I went down in the basement, and she was gone, so she went out the basement door, which was unlocked, and we haven’t seen her since.”
On June 16, the Endangered Child Alert was upgraded to an Amber Alert.
Investigators said they had no suspect and no details or description of any vehicle that could be connected to the case but they received at least 300 tips regarding the girl’s disappearance.
In a written statement to WJHL, Don said that he believed his daughter was kidnapped.
“She would never leave our hill. I think that someone snuck up on her and grabbed her. I don’t think she’s in the area because the dog goes down to the road and that’s the end of the trail, but I don’t know that for a fact,” he wrote.
“The way that she just disappeared, she would never do that,” Don added.
“We know that there’s people praying all around the world praying for her safe return. So many people love her.”
