Tech giant Apple has revealed that its newest iPhone has arrived, boasting the same power as previous models while being the most affordable one.
Apple unveiled the second-generation iPhone SE on its website and will cost at least $399 (£419) with pre-orders starting from April 17.
According to Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, even with its “compact design” the SE packs a lot of power with a 4.7-inch Retina HD display coupled with the fastest smartphone chip in the world. It will also house the best camera that an iPhone has ever had.
In essence, it’s like an iPhone 11 in an iPhone 8’s body.
Schiller said: “The first iPhone SE was a hit with many customers who loved its unique combination of small size, high-end performance, and affordable price; the new second-generation iPhone SE builds on that great idea and improves on it in every way – including our best-ever single-camera system for great photos and videos – while still being very affordable.
“iPhone SE features the industry-leading performance of A13 Bionic that enables great battery life, takes stunning Portrait mode and Smart HDR photos shoots amazing videos with stereo audio, is great for games and super fast web surfing, and is built with the same industry-leading security features our customers expect. We can’t wait to get iPhone SE into customers’ hands.”
But where the iPhone 11 uses face recognition, the new SE uses a Touch ID-based handset with the classic home button. Even better, all Six Lighting effects and Depth Control are included.
In this model, Apple claims that videos are “even more immersive” with “stereo audio recording and cinematic video stabilization on the front and rear cameras.”
Furthermore, the “rear camera supports high-quality video capture at 4K up to 60fps, and extended dynamic range… for more highlight details up to 30fps.”
And because of the glass black, this water-resistant phone can also take advantage of Qi wireless charging, a method that gives your phone a 50 percent boost in only 30 minutes.
As for the A13 Bionic chip, Apple says it’s the most powerful chip that has ever been put on a smartphone. Coupled with a dedicated 8-core Neural Engine with a 5-trillion operation per second capability and you’re talking about one small package that packs a lot of punch.
