Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, the late Tejano songster, is to be honored in a tribute concert being organized in Texas this year, 25 years after her murder.
The event has been named Selena XXV-Veinticinco Años, and it is slated to be organized on 9th May at the Alamodome region in San Antonio.
Q Productions, the company owned by her family, is the one behind the concert. Expect to see a lineup of popular Latin artists in the event.
Suzette Quintanilla, the president and CEO of Q Productions, and also the sister of Selena, has mentioned that they are feeling really excited to organize this concert.
She promises it to be an exciting fan experience, whereby, the memory of her sister will be celebrated and honored.
Suzette believes that the relevance and popularity of Selena have only increased over the course of twenty-five years.
It is slated to be a twelve hours long concert. It will start at noon and will go on till midnight. Some of the artists expected to be performing at the event are The Lab, Pitbull, Isabel Marie, Gilbert Velasquez, Ruben Ramos, Becky G, Los Kumbia Allstarz and A.B. Quintanilla III, and Ally Brooke (from Fifth Harmony).
This is not the first time Selena is being honored in an event because musicians from all over the world have celebrated her work at different concerts.
The most notable mention has to be that of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, which was in the city where she performed for the last time.
After earning a lot of fame and recognition in a short time, Selena was murdered by Yolanda Saldivar, at a motel in Texas in the year 1995. She was the manager of the clothing boutique of Selena and also the president of her fan club.
