Dozens of people gathered at Coatbridge, Lanarkshire to party and drink, floating all the social distancing rules set by the government.
The group of 30 friends consumed Buckfast and vodka while mingling with each other. One of them even brazenly joked about being detained for breaking the pandemic rules.
According to a source, the crew seemed “heavily intoxicated” during their unlawful gathering.
The pictures that were later posted on social media showed the law-breakers waving happily at the camera while sitting on the grass.
The members posed differently to celebrate the moments, with some raising their bottles in the air and some making rude gestures to look cool.
It is said that the boozers decided to gather and party after they weren’t allowed to attend a friend’s funeral.
Before going to the meeting, one of the friends shared her photo of drinking at home and getting ready for the entertainment.
She wrote: “Away for a social distance swally way ma bestos. Probs be in the cells for 4.”
The post received hundreds of likes despite the fact that the woman was putting her and other’s lives at risk by going against all the rules set out by the government.
Strangely, even netizens didn’t bother to advise her to stay at home or maintain social distance, except one who just wrote: “Remember 2 meters”.
The UK government has asked every citizen to stay at home unless they need food, medicine, and things of basic need.
Essential workers can go outside with the restriction to maintain at least a two-meter distance from others.
Speaking of people’s non-cooperative behavior, a spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “We are aware of numerous incidents of non-compliance across the country with officers attending these calls.
“Officers will engage, explain, encourage to prevent ongoing and future non-compliance.”
