The 2020 Democratic primary debates took place in Miami last Wednesday and Thursday night.
After the debate, some candidates shone out while some went further down the ladder.
This debate’s end saw the downfall of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) as he emerged out to be the biggest loser. A poll was conducted by Suffolk University and USA Today which showed that the former Vice President Joe Biden and Sanders both had dropped down drastically in polls.
Sanders had already run for the presidency in 2016 but was unsuccessful. He plans on to run for it again this year. But the current position at which he stands shows little positivity.
After last week’s debate, Sanders has staged down to the fourth position at only 9%. But USA Today suggests that the polls for him had been decreasing way before the first round of debates that took place last week.
Kamala Harris (D-CA) is considered as the star that shined out at the Miami debate. She has managed to leap forward to the second position at 16%, leaving Sanders and Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts behind.
Since Harris has emerged out as an incredible candidate for the presidency, the supporters of Biden and Sanders are suggested to erode further down. The reason could be the voters incline towards a younger and more electable politician.
Harris and Warren are now coming out to present more youthful and diverse ideas for the party.
However, it is not only Sanders who is facing a backdrop. Biden is also losing supporters, even in double digits in some areas.
The second round of debates is set to take place in Detroit, Michigan, at the end of this month. However, the crowd for the second round is presumed to be less than the previous one. To enter the second set of debate, a candidate must demonstrate a minimum 2% support.
