A good Samaritan was spotted going out of his way to help reunite a missing dog with his senior owner after coming across the lost pup on his way home.
40-year-old Jason Gasparik from Charlotte, North Carolina, has seen Roxy the Labrador when he was driving home in his car.
As Jason immediately noticed, the dog was in a frantic state and appeared to be looking for his owner. With the help of other good people, Jason managed to calm the dog down and get her in his car.
After bringing the lost pooch back to his home, Jason took pictures of Roxy and shared them on social media and various websites that aim to help find owners of missing pets. Despite already being late, Jason also took the dog to a veterinary to see if she was microchipped. Sadly, all to no avail.
The following morning, the 40-year-old began thinking of other ways to find the owner of the dog. And so, he decided to make a sign saying “Do you know this lost dog????” and hold it on the corner of the street for three hours together with Roxy.
“Saturday morning I was sitting there with her thinking ‘what else could I do?’” Gasparik said. “So like a total dork, I made my sign and went to stand out on the sidewalk with her.”
Soon enough, the pair received a lot of attention from passing drivers. Fortunately, Roxy’s story also went viral after one of them shared the picture of the pair on social media.
While Jason’s phone started getting flooded with messages, an elderly man named Ed was already on his way across the town looking for his dog.
As fate would have it, the senior saw a woman walking her dog and asked her if she had seen a lost pup nearby. The woman then told him about Jason’s social media post and contacted the rescuer together with Ed.
In a matter of minutes, Ed and Jason met in a parking lot and Roxy was reunited with her owner.
“As soon as Roxy saw him, her ears perked up and she ran to him and he had all the paperwork to show that he was the owner,” Jason explained. “And of course he had tons of pictures of her on his cellphone.”
After the successful rescue mission, Jason once again proved that he is a hero as he volunteered to assist Ed in walking Roxy due to his back problems.
