Serena Williams recently avoided the question related to her friend Meghan Markle while having a conversation with Naomi Campbell and sister Venus Williams via video call.
Naomi, 49, asked the 38-year-old tennis player, “Are you happy that your girlfriend has moved to America? Meghan Markle.” To which Serena replied with a laugh, “Don’t know what you’re talkin’ about, don’t know nothing’ about that.”
Naomi didn’t stop there as she shot another question about Meghan saying, “I mean they’re on the West Coast but … I mean, it’s a big deal!”
“Never seen it, never heard of her, don’t know her,” Serena responded with a whistle.
Well, Serena has not ignored questions about Meghan for the first time as she has done it before. In January, during the Australian Open Serena was asked about Harry and Meghan’s royal exit and she chose not to comment on it.
According to New York Times, freelance writer Ben Rothenberg who is a reporter asked Serena, “Your good friend, Meghan Markle, who attended your last two slams, and Harry, have taken a move, a stance that many people think is extraordinary and historic. What are your feelings about that? Have you spoken to her?”
Serena answered: “Yeah, I have absolutely no comments on anything with that. But good try. You tried. You did good.”
In September 2019, Meghan attended the U.S. Open finals with son Archie to cheer her friend Serena. The Duchess was captured smiling as she sat in Serena’s box at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Meghan and Serena first met at a Superbowl party in 2010 and the Duchess said on her blog they “hit it off immediately.” In September 2018, Serena praised Meghan calling her the strongest person.
She said: ‘’Meghan is the strongest person I know and she’s always there, doesn’t matter what she’s going through.”
