A mother has shared her seven-week-old baby’s symptoms that her baby experienced before coronavirus diagnosis.
Ken and Toni Rhodes’ seven-week-old baby son Curtis developed a high temperature and a rash before he was taken to an A&E at a hospital in Basildon, Essex.
Toni Rhodes and her husband Ken told their baby son stayed at the hospital for at least 48 hours and tests were carried out by the doctors before he was diagnosed with coronavirus.
Toni, the mother of seven-week-old Curtis, has now shared her baby’s symptoms before his coronavirus diagnosis.
The mother has urged to share the message as much as people can to raise awareness about the deadly virus.
She wrote on Facebook: “Can I please ask that this message is shared as much as possible so we can seek and give support to and from others who may have babies that have tested positive or have concerns for their child.”
Toni told that Curtis was very agitated and was crying before she put him to bed. The next morning, he woke up with mottled skin and a red swollen watering eye and was not eating.
The parents rushed him to an A&E as he had a high temperature and fast heart rate.
Initially, the doctors thought he had sepsis and put him on antibiotics.
The parents were told their baby needed to stay at the hospital for at least 48 hours while they carried out some tests.
He was then discharged from the hospital as his health improved but after a few days he was tested positive for coronavirus.
Toni wrote: “We are sharing our story to give parents the reassurance that babies can and will be ok. The message is intended to be positive and to raise awareness.”
Toni and her husband Ken are also showing symptoms of coronavirus but they have not been tested yet.
She urged parents if their children are unwell, take them to A&E immediately before it’s too late.
She added: “So many parents could be leaving it too late and are not going to hospital just in case their child does not have the virus but catches it there.”
