A cruise ship collided with a tourist boat and a dock on a canal in Venice, leaving five people injured.
The MSC Opera cruise ship collided with the small River Countess and the San Basilio dock on the Giudecca Canal in Venice.
The horrifying video footage shows the tourists panicking after hearing the huge cruise ship’s horn.
Some of them fell into the water while some tried to run away when the cruise ship collided with the boat.
Four female tourists – an American, a New Zealander and two Australians – were left injured, according to Medical authorities.
Davide Calderan, president of a towboat association in Venice, said: “The two towboats tried to stop the giant and then a tow cable broke, cut by the collision with the riverboat.”
Getty ImagesAccording to DailyMail, a witness said: “There was this huge ship in a diagonal position in the Giudecca Canal, with a tugboat near which seemed like it couldn’t do anything”.
“The bow of the ship crashed hard into the bank with its massive weight crushing a big piece of it. Sirens were wailing loudly; it was a very dramatic scene.”
Just a few days before, seven people were killed and 21 remain missing after a sightseeing boat which had 35 people onboard sank into the river in Budapest, Hungary after a cruise ship collided with the boat.
