Two people were shot dead and one was injured as a gunman opened fire at a grocery store in Baltimore.
The incident took place in Essex, Baltimore, where a shooter opened fire at the Middleborough Road Royal Farms Store just before 7 in the morning on Sunday.
According to the reports, two shoppers succumbed to their gunshot wounds whereas the third victim reportedly survived the incident.
As the officials confirmed, they were called to the nearby Hartland Ridge Apartments where they found a person with self-inflicted wounds 15 minutes after the deadly shooting.
As of this writing, it is not yet clear whether the two cases are related and if the person they found at the apartment complex is linked to the shooting. It has also not been confirmed if the person survived the alleged self-inflicted wounds.
“Officers were dispatched just before 7 am. Also not far away, detectives are investigating an apartment fire, including what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” the spokesperson for the police revealed in a statement.
“We are investigating right now to see if or not both incidents are connected. We will release more information when appropriate. Our main priority is to inform next-of-kin and to gather more information about what happened.”
The tragic shooting follows shortly after a gunman opened fire at a Boulder, Colorado, supermarket and killed ten people, including a police officer, in the process.
Following the deadly mass shooting in Colorado, the authorities have arrested 21-year-old Syrian-American Ahmad Alissa who reportedly arrived into the country with his family at the age of three.
Since the shooting, the young man, who has reportedly been suffering from paranoia, has been charged with ten counts of murder.
