A shop owner claims she was stunned beyond belief after the backlash she received for dressing up a plus-sized mannequin in wedding attire and placing it outside her store’s window.

The dummy bride constantly receives hateful comments alongside plenty of jokes and laughs, ever since it went on display, explained 53-year-old shop owner Debbie Shelley. Without a doubt, mothers and children get most attracted by the recent installation, often standing by the store and glaring out at the size 32 dummy.

Debbie says that the mannequin has been a part of her shop’s window display, which you can find in Somerset, since April of this year, yet the rude attention it receives from so many bystanders is beyond mind-blowing for her.

Now, she adds that she continually hears the harshest comments being thrown at the plus-sized dummy over a routine basis, only because of her size.

“It’s not common for mothers to come up to my store’s window with their young children and claim, ‘Don’t you ever get this fat because if you do, no one will ever marry you”- explained Debbie.

Moreover, the shop owner added how the installation of her specially curated mannequin came after years of vigorous searching for a giant-sized dummy. But little did she know that the mannequin, which is named Fuchsia, would get so much hate, ever since she was put up on display.

“It’s appalling how much mothers are using the mannequin to set an example for their young children regarding how fat or thin they should be, adding how they certainly don’t want to appear like that,’ she explained.

But now, Debbie says she’s had enough and that’s why you’ll find a customized sign next to the dummy bride, that truly speaks Debbie’s mind. “Are you laughing or are you busy fat-shaming?”- the sign asks. Next, it states that the dummy also has feelings and the store thinks she looks absolutely stunning.

The end of the sign states, “Please don’t forget to send her plenty of love, not laugh!” Debbie believes how her efforts at the window will ensure people stop fat-shaming, once and for all.
