30-year-old Veronika Gentile and her 40-year-old sister Giovanna Avati decorate Christmas trees for other people and charge $26 AUD an hour.
After Mrs. Gentile’s friends loved the Christmas tree decorated by her four years ago, the sisters decided to decorate Christmas trees for other people for a price.
Initially, the sisters did it for friends and family free of charge but soon they started charging $26 AUD (£13.40) per hour.
The sisters say that most Christmas trees take about two hours which means they get $52 AUD for one Christmas tree.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Mrs. Gentile said: “Four years ago I told my husband I wanted to deck out the house for Christmas. I started getting a lot of attention from friends, they loved my ornaments, and one of them even asked if I would set up their tree for them.”
This year the siblings have decorated eight Christmas trees and earned $416 AUD (£215.16).
They are now planning to expand their business across Melbourne and plans to set up a Facebook page to allow people to place orders.
When Mrs. Gentile was asked about how to decorate a Christmas tree as she does, she said that the main thing is positioning.
She said: ‘It’s all about positioning. For my own tree, I place my ornament, stand back and figure out if it works in that space. I do the same thing for other people.”
“Go with what you love. If you want to go out there with a bright orange tree with green ornaments, do it. You’re the one that will have to look at it every day.”
“We always take some string ribbon to help the ornaments sit nicely. When we put a star on a tree, we use a small wooden or metal bar to make it stay up on the top.”
