Olympic gymnast Simone Biles publicly addressed President Joe Biden in response to the recent presidential election results.
In a post on X, Biles encouraged Biden to act decisively in the last months of his term after Vice President Kamala Harris lost the election to former President Donald Trump.
“Mr. Biden, I need you to stand up, straighten your back, and make some things shake before your departure,” Biles wrote, closing with, “xoxo the women in America 💙.”
President-elect Trump, who previously held office from 2016 to 2020, was officially declared the winner over Harris early Wednesday morning. Biles then shared her reaction to Trump’s victory on Threads, posting, “you gotta be f–king kidding me,” and adding, “I’m SO sorry, America.” She continued, expressing frustration: “we deserve better 💔.”
Later, President Biden issued a statement acknowledging Harris’ efforts and her historic campaign. In remarks shared on X, he commended her resilience, integrity, and leadership.
“What America saw today was the Kamala Harris I know and deeply admire. She’s been a tremendous partner and public servant full of integrity, courage, and character,” Biden stated. “Under extraordinary circumstances, she led a historic campaign that embodies the possibilities of a nation more free, more just, and full of opportunities for all Americans.”
