US gymnast Simone Biles has received a hero’s welcome when she arrived in Texas.
The 24-year-old brought home two medals: a bronze from the balance beam and silver from the team final.
Despite the controversy over her decision to pull out from five event finals over issues with her mental health, she put her problems behind her as she enjoyed a parade from her Range Rover convertible.
Biles was greeted by fans waiting in Houston to celebrate her accomplishments.
Wearing a white Olympics t-shirt, black leggings, and a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses, and with her father Ron behind the wheel of the turquoise vehicle, Biles waved and beamed at her fans who assembled on the side of the road to welcome the gymnast home.
After arriving home, the 24-year-old took to social media and posted a video of herself looking cozy and happy.
Shortly after arriving home, Biles hit the road again to see her NFL star boyfriend Jonathan Owens, who voiced his support for his girlfriend on social media as she competed in Tokyo.
He also slammed her critics by posting a quote from baseball legend Babe Ruth about ‘the loudest boos coming from the cheapest seats.’
After Biles won bronze on the balance beam, Owens shared a photo of his girlfriend smiling with pride and wrote: “Words can’t express how proud of you I am right now.”
Owens also promised to stand by Biles ‘through whatever’ in a heartwarming post.
“Imma ride with you through whatever baby,” he said. “Your strength and courage is unmatched and you inspire me more and more everyday SB.
“You always gone be my champ baby and don’t you ever forget that, I love you so much and I can’t wait till you come home and I get to see that beautiful smile again. You know I’m always here for you baby.”
