The 22 year old Savanna LaFontaine-Greywind went missing in late August.
At the time of her disappearance she was eight months pregnant. The baby’s dad was her longtime boyfriend Ashton Matheny. Unfortunately, Savannah was later found dead, police reports says she was killed for the baby she was carrying.
Ashton Matheny was reunited with his newborn baby who he named Haisley Jo. Ashton was granted full legal custoy of his daughter in September. He recently spoke out in an interview with ‘People’ regarding his experiences raising his daughter.
The single father calls his baby “a Daddy’s girl,” and explained that he’s now both mom and dad figure for his daughter. Regardless of everything, he said he enjoys being a dad and is struggling with the parental responsibilities such as, bathing, feeding, changing and making sure he has all of the necessary things when leaving the house with her. “I have to go over a checklist every time I leave the house,” he explained.
The single dad also describes his baby as “a thriving, beautiful 4-month-old that is the love of her father’s life.” In raising Haisley Jo, Ashton is also keeping Savanna’s legacy alive.
“She would have been the best mom ever,” Ashton said of his late girlfriend and mother of his child. “She was so good with kids.”
A ‘GoFundMe’ page has been created to help Ashton and Haisley Jo with their expenses.
