A skydiver celebrated his 400th skydive by getting his beard trimmed while he was in the air.
Mike Sharkey hadn’t cut his facial hair for the last seven years. But that changed on September 1, 2019 when Mike jumped out of a plane from a height of 10,500 feet.
The 30-year-old said goodbye to his beard as he leaped in the sky above Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania.

Mike was accompanied in his dive by Matt Collins and Nick Cerminaro, with the former cleaning out his chin and the latter filming the moment on camera.
As the group accelerated downward, Matt got close to Mike to start with the shaving process. By the time they landed on the ground, Mike had nothing but some stumble on his face.
Speaking of their unusual dive, Nick told Story Trender: “The hardest part of the jump was to hold on while the parachute was opening and while he was shaving Mike’s beard.”
“Mike wanted to do something special for his 300th jump and it was time to shave the beard,” he added. “They failed on the 300th so he kept the beard for another 100 jumps to try it again on his 400th.”
Nick admitted that the group was nervous before taking the plunge.
“I think we were all nervous especially before the jump but we have become comfortable with each other’s flying ability,” he said.
“A lot of things can go wrong when you’re standing on the strut of a plane traveling over a 100mph and then jumping with another person holding on.
“Also flying super close to another canopy is dangerous even without them shaving because if you collide, you’re both going to get wrapped up in the lines of the other persons canopy and drop out of the sky.
“When you get on the ground and everyone is safe it’s a euphoric feeling.”
