Unfortunately, the headache turned out to be an onset of the after-effects of the coronavirus infection, and 5 year old Skylar Herbert of Detroit sadly passed away on Sunday after two weeks on a ventilator, putting all efforts to no avail. The coronavirus had an unusual progression on her body including a very rare form of meningitis and brain swelling.

’ This comes especially heartbreaking after the fact that both of her parents are a tirelessly working first responders, but it had to be that their daughter was the first child victim of the coronavirus, without the parents knowing until recently that the pandemic was the one to blame.point 245 |

‘The loss of a child, at any time, under any circumstances, is a tragedy. We are heartbroken that COVID-19 has taken the life of a child. We extend our deepest sympathy to Skylar’s family and all others who have lost a loved one to this virus,’

Skylar’s initial symptoms had absolutely no bearing to the commonly known features of the pandemic, hence the reason why their daughter was taken to the hospital in a completely underestimated prognosis.point 179 | Ebbie and LaVondria Herbert brought Skylar to a doctor on March 23, where she kept complaining of a almost chronic suffering of a headache which won’t go away with the usual medications.point 340 |
