Ollie is a dog from Iraq.
He had been raised as a puppy in an army base and became the camp’s beloved mascot.
Former Army Specialist Ken Wyrsch gave special care for Ollie while he was on duty. They were best friends who spent every moment together. “He was there when we left on our missions, he was there when we got back,” Wyrsch interviewed with CBS SF.

However, as the camp in Iraq closed down, he had to leave Ollie. This happens a lot when soldiers finish their duties and head back to the States. Leaving Ollie in Iraq was so painful for Wyrsch because of the cruel and harsh treatment that animals face. Ollie was too sweet and mild-tempered to survive in Iraq.
Luckily, Wyrsch asked for help to SPCA International and they took charge of the adoption process for Ollie! One month later, they were able to bring Ollie to San Francisco, so that the two best buddies could reunite.

Wyrsch and Ollie finally saw each other again at SFO and they were over the moon to now officially be a family!
