As much as we’d like to, it’s not that common to witness a random act of kindness happening right before our eyes.
Fortunately, Jason recently had this rare opportunity to see one of our soldiers showing generosity to two little ones at a restaurant.
When Robert ordered his meal and sat down to eat, two young boys walked in. Instead of ordering food, however, these boys had another purpose – selling homemade desserts to raise money for their church.
As he was eating, Robert noticed the boys walking around. And when they got close, he asked the boys if they had dinner yet. The boys replied that they had not.
Another customer named Jason Gibson witnessed what happened next, and he was so impressed by Robert that he decided to capture the moment and post the video on Facebook. And people were absolutely touched by what happened.

Along with the video, Jason also wrote,
“I was in a taco bell tonight when two kids came in trying to sell home made desserts for money. I overheard a soldier asking the kids if they were hungry and told them to follow him to the counter, he would buy them dinner. I had to video it and share.
Our troops are always taking care of us.
Thank you LTC Robert Risdon. Please please share this.. I heard the little one say I want to be just like you when I grow up and saluted him.”
When this story spread around social media, various news platforms quickly interviewed Robert.
“I’m kind of embarrassed and humbled by the praise and don’t need it,” said Robert when he was interviewed with The Huffington Post.
He then added, “I am a believer that we live in the best country in the world with the best people and that acts of kindness happen everyday.”
