A tricky math problem designed for kids is going viral after leaving adults baffled with its answer.
While most of us have probably forgotten all about math after leaving school for good, there’s nothing wrong with putting what we learned years ago to the test from time to time.
Time to roll up your sleeves and do your best to solve a viral equation that has been circulating the internet for decades.
The math problem goes like this: 9 – 9 ÷ 9 + 9 – 9 ÷ 9 = ?
Though it may look easy at first, take your time to avoid making a mistake that will change your answer for the worse!

9 – 1 + 9 – 1 =
8 + 9 – 1 =

The correct answer to this equation is 16 and all other answers happen to be incorrect.
If your answer is different, give the math problem another chance. This time, however, keep in mind that division has higher priority than subtraction and addition.
According to PEMDAS, BOMDAS, and all other operation orders, one has to start working on an equation by solving orders/exponents and what’s inside brackets/parentheses. Since there are none, in this case, you have to start with division/multiplication right away.
After you’re done with division, simply do subtraction and addition from left to right to solve the equation!
