‘Friends’ Theme Songwriter Allee Willis Passed Away At The Age Of 72


American songwriter Allee Willis and the mastermind behind the all-time favorite Friends’ theme song ‘I’ll Be There for You’ has passed away at the age of 72 from a heart attack.

The death of the award-winning songwriter was confirmed by the 72-year-old’s partner who took to Instagram to share the sad news.

“Rest In Boogie Wonderland Nov 10, 1947-December 24, 2019,” Prudence Fenton wrote.

While Willis will most likely always be best known for composing Friends’ theme song, she has also received Grammy awards for the soundtrack in Beverly Hills Cop and her contribution to writing The Color Purple.

In 2018, the songwriter and the hitmaker of ‘Boogie Wonderland’ and ‘September’ was also honored into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

According to a report by Variety, Willis’ long-term partner Prudence Fenton was “in total shock” following the unexpected passing.

Paying their respects to the deceased hitmaker were hundreds of celebrities and prominent figures who expressed their sadness over the news.

“Allee Willis, who had hits with so many wonderful artists, Earth Wind & Fire, the Pointer Sisters, and who wrote the score for the Broadway hit “The Color Purple” has died.  My condolences to all her friends in the music community, and in Los Angeles, where she was so beloved,” actress Bette Midler wrote.
