South Korea has planned to send 600,000 coronavirus testing kits to the United States.
The country delivered its first shipment on Tuesday after U.S. President Donald Trump requested so.
According to the official told Reuter, a U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency cargo plane carrying the tool is scheduled to leave at 10:30 pm on Tuesday.
Furthermore, the first shipment will be delivered to and paid by the U.S. government.
And, additional 150,000 kits will be shipped in the coming times and will be sold to a local retailer, which is not specified.
President Donald Trump had a telephonic conversation with President Moon Jae-in on March 25th, 2020, where he made the request. This request came after the USA became the worst affected country by the coronavirus.
As of now, the United States of America has recorded over 561,767 positive COVID-19 cases with more than 22,129 fatalities.
The PCR or polymerase chain reaction will be sourced from three different companies that have acquired preliminary approval late from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in order to export kits to the country.
However, the official declined to specify the name of the two companies that will be working on the shipment.
An individual with a comprehensive knowledge of this matter revealed that on condition of anonymity one of the two companies is Osang Healthcare, and it will offer 300,000 kits. But Osang Healthcare refused to make any comments.
South Korean companies have shipped test kits to the U.S. cities earlier as well include Los Angeles. However, the Tuesday shipment will be the first bulk order from the U.S. federal government.
South Korea was once struggling to curb the virus, and presently it has managed to bring the situation under control, and now seems to be helping the U.S. in this matter.
