Peruvian police have installed special ‘stations’ to care for stray and abandoned dogs.
Dogs who have been abandoned by their owners struggle every day to remain alive on the streets as they face severe challenges while finding water and food for themselves.
These unfortunate canines are often subjected to different types of abuse as well which makes their life even more miserable.
Sadly, there have been many incidents in Peru in which people tried to harm and poison stray dogs.
Heartless folks used to put out food containing glass shards or poisonous contamination, as a result of which, several canines either died or got severely sick.
It was when the police in Tacna, Peru decided to do something about the horrifying matter.
To put an end to this despicable abuse on the streets, the police department in Tacna installed special water and food dispensers outside police stations in the city.
Attached to the police buildings, these stations are shaped like long vertical tubes. They moderately distribute food, working just like a vending machine.
Hungry or thirsty stray dogs can reach out to them by smelling the food, which will be safe from any contamination.
These water and food dispensing machines have left an overwhelmingly positive effect on the abandoned dogs since they were launched last year.
The innovative idea has saved thousands of dogs living on the streets by providing them safe food and water.
After the initiative succeeded in Tacna, animal activists called for duplicating it in other cities of Peru as well as all around the world.
Thanks to a thoughtful gesture of Peruvian police, thousands of stray dogs will always remain well fed and hydrated at all times.
