With the opening of Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge, Disneyland’s president, Josh D’Amaro, has teased us with a picture of the newest attraction in which ‘the inhabitants of Batuu’ are seen posing and inviting potential visitors to join them.
Speaking of the $1 billion Star Wars theme park, Mr. D’Amaro wrote:
“So proud to introduce you to the inhabitants of Batuu! I want to thank this amazing team for their incredible dedication and passion. Yesterday’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge cast rally was unforgettable. This photo is one for the ages!”
Following the announcement, Star Wars fans, including the actor playing Finn, John Boyega, retweeted the photo.
Mr. Boyega also complimented the “amazing cast” and promised the park will “give the fans all around the world the most immersive Star Wars experience!” The actor also admitted he wasn’t participating in the development of the attraction but claimed he would be there to witness the opening.
“Don’t you worry I’ll be there to help guide you through one of the most insane rides! It was a pleasure to work with the team on this. Enjoy and may the force be with you,” he wrote on Instagram.
The Galaxy’s Edge features 14 acres of fun rides, Star Wars themed shops, and even sells “Star Wars-appropriate food and drink.”
To access attractions, all visitors will be required to wear a special wristband which will block access to rides after a visitor passed the given timeframe.
To further encourage the Star Wars spirit, park employees, including the guards, will be dressed accordingly.
“There might be some First Order officers out there helping us or maybe some Stormtroopers asking people to move along,” the Disneyland park’s vice president, Kris Theiler, announced.
