A photographer and yoga instructor took to Facebook to shame a hardworking Starbucks barista for not serving her because she was not wearing a mask.
Amber Lynn Gilles wrote on Facebook: “Meet Lenen from Starbucks who refused to serve me cause I’m not wearing a mask,” tagging the Starbucks in San Diego. “Next time I will wait for cops and bring a medical exemption.”
Her post received more than 100k reactions, over 133k comments, and almost 50k shares, with people slamming her for her remarks.
Amber’s post prompted Matt Cowan to launch a GoFundMe page for Lenin Gutierrez, and the ‘Tips for Lenin Standing Up To A San Diego Karen’ has raised over $20,000!
Gutierrez, who was shocked by the support he received, shared posts and videos thanking all his well-wishers. “I want to remind everyone to be kind to one another and to love each other and always remember to wear a mask,” he expressed.
The woman took to social media again to defend her actions and to clash with the people slamming her post. “I am not scared or bothered by your ignorant fraud a**’s, not so sorry you losers got nothing better to do,” she expressed.
“Thanks for the ratings you all act like the terrorist organization you are.”
Starbucks also released a statement, saying the company stands behind the need to use face masks in stores.
The company said in a statement to CBS 8: “We want everyone to feel welcome in our store. We respectfully request customers follow social distancing and safety protocols recommended by public health officials, including wearing a facial covering when visiting our stores.”
