As TV host Ellen DeGeneres goes through one of the lowest points in her entire career due to the seemingly never ending stream of scandals, fellow host Howard Stern suggested that she completely change her image by embracing the meaner side.
Stern gave his advice on the “Howard Stern Show”, which airs on SiriusXM and is widely regarded as one of the most influential radio shows. He said DeGeneres should not be afraid to portray herself as a mean, tough person in front of a camera.
The radio host brought himself into the conversation, saying how he is a different person in front of a camera. Stern argued that many people find him to be a nice human being when off the camera, but he is not afraid to show the meaner and prickly aspects as a part of his persona.
At the same time, Stern said this should be done after DeGeneres amends her soured relationship with her staff, as no host can properly do his or her job without a good and supportive crew behind him or her.
Stern joked that the only person who was being abused in his show was himself. The teamwork on Stern’s show is the thing of legends in the industry. For instance, one writer has written more than 900 shows for Stern according to the host’s count.
The two celebrity hosts are known to be quite close to each other. Stern, whose onscreen chemistry with any given host can be easily seen through his demeanors, seemed brightly when on “Ellen”. Just last year, he even remarried his current wife on DeGeneres’ show.
As of yet, it is unclear whether Degeneres will take Stern’s recommendations. Since the negative stories about her began to break out earlier this year, her ratings also dropped. DeGeneres has made it clear that she has not thought about quitting her position.
Many celebrities such as Kevin Hart and Katy Perry have expressed their support for DeGeneres. However, it has not stopped the avalanche of terrible experiences that her staff has had with the host from becoming public.
