Zeus the pit bull whose owner was desperately searching for after the pooch was stolen has finally returned home thanks to fifteen Good Samaritans who drove him 2,000 miles across the States.
9-year-old Zeus was taken from Montana-based Cassandra Rasmussen by a family ‘friend’ who allegedly robbed the house of everything of value.
For months after the dog was stolen, Cassandra wished for nothing more than to be reunited with Zeus in time for Christmas.
Fortunately, the home burglar was eventually arrested whereas the authorities also found the dog unharmed. However, they were located in West Virginia which is some 2,000 miles away from Cassandra’s home.
Following the dog owner’s heartbreaking plea and the rescue mission organized by Many Paws Volunteer Transport, 15 caring people decided to band together to have Zeus delivered to Cassandra because the pooch was allegedly not fit for flying.
“It’s wonderful, this is a great experience, a great opportunity to show the people and communities across the United States offering to help jumping on this to help reunite this dog with its family,” Jenn Robles, one of the kind people who helped bring Zeus across the States, said in an interview with WOWK-TV.
Celebrating Zeus’ return home just in time for Christmas, the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association thanked everyone who participated in making the reunion possible.
“Montana Zeus is HOME! We’re so honored to be a part of his journey, and grateful for the volunteers nationwide who made this reunion possible!” they wrote on Facebook.
“While Zeus’ journey is a heartwarming holiday story, it’s just a glimpse into what animal welfare organizations do 365 days per year, in order to save pets’ lives and reunite families. Afterall, it’s #allforlove.”
