A male beauty supply store owner is now facing charges after he allegedly punched a mother in the lip.
He claimed that her 3-year-old son took a keychain worth 99 cents.
In a video filmed by a bystander, April Harding and store owner Changseok Jun were seen fighting outside Beauty Supply in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
As they continued to argue, Harding can be seen making a hand gesture close to Jun’s face and she turned around.
However, the male beauty supply store owner grabbed her arm and punched her right in the face with a closed fist.
The mother covered her mouth with her hands and then spat up blood as Jun walked back inside his store. Harding suffered a swollen lip that needed three stitches.
After the incident, June has been charged with assault and battery, a misdemeanor.
According to Tulsa Police Department Sgt. Shane Tuell, the store owner will likely be ordered to complete community service or fined. He also said the mother has the option to sue.
Harding, a hairstylist who often buys items at the store, said she had paid for her stuff but didn’t notice right away that her son was holding a 99 cent keychain.
“The man, the owner, he said something to me. I took it from my son and I threw it back in the store because I was trying to discipline my son at the same time,” she explained.
“Nothing was ever taken from the store. We never got out of the store with anything,” she added. But when she walked out of the store, she realized the owner was already walking behind her.
“He’s behind me saying something, it was aggressive,” she expressed. “I turned around to say something verbally back to him.
Then I went ahead and got up in his face and attempted to walk away. It looks like I hit him, but I didn’t.”
“I did my hand like this, like “whatever”, and when I did, he grabbed my arm and spun me around and punched me in the lip.”
Jun’s Beauty Supply closed both of its locations as protesters gathered in front of the store where he punched Harding.
