A Doberman, who was left paralyzed after a kennel worker dropped a metal door on his neck, has finally learned to walk again.

10-years-old Kenny was unable to move his legs after the accident months ago.

Doctors suggested to put him down but a team of volunteers didn’t give up on him.

The owner of the shelter sent Kenny to Two Hand Four Paws – a Los Angeles animal rehabilitation center for better treatment.

Founder of Two Hands Four Paws, Leslie McMahon said: “I took him [Kenny] straight to the neurologist, and she knew we didn’t have the roughly $8,000 to do an MRI and surgery so she told us to just try rehab to see if we could get him up again.”

Kenny went through a physical therapy program which included having ‘Kenny ‘in the pool, doing massage, laser, acupuncture, assisted standing and assisted walking in the quad cart,’ McMahon said.

Kenny also lost the ability to pee. He was sent for an MRI. But during surgery, doctors found out that Kenny’s spine had been damaged.

They thought he might not survive. He also contracted pneumonia less than a month later.

“[It] became life-threatening, and we actually thought we would lose him because of this,” McMahon told Huffington Post.

“It was scary touch-and-go for a few days, but Kenny made it.”

Finally, Kenny was able to walk again.

“I rarely see dogs walk again after being down that long. I frankly didn’t think we would get this puppy up again,” she told Huffington Post.

Kenny now runs and plays ‘like a lunatic day in and day out’ she says.

“He’s a completely different dog. He learned how to play, learned what toys are, learned what walks are and does all three all day long. He’s just a joy to watch,” she said.
