A dog has always been a man’s best friend.
Dogs love us for no reason and expect nothing but love in return. Their loyalty cannot be questioned. If you take a stroll outside, you are likely to encounter a dog on your way. This is what happened when a couple went on a hiking trip.
But little did they know that they would be joined by a third individual on their trip.
Scott Brown and his wife were all set to hike in the snowy waterfalls of the Washington state. But when they started their journey, they noticed something following them. They were near the North Bend in Teneriffe Falls when they saw something behind them.
Brown jokingly told his wife that it was a bear. But he was thankful that it wasn’t. This curious wanderer was actually a black dog who decided to join them on their journey.
They were on a seven-mile hike seemed like nothing for the dog who decided to be the leader of the group and walk ahead, guiding them. He always walked a foot ahead of them, and he would even wait if the couple took a break to click pictures.
When they reached the falls, Simon decided to capture some images with their newfound friend. They discovered that the dog actually had a tag on his front. On the tag was mentioned the dog’s name – Smokey. A message was also written that he liked to follow hikers on their trip and they shouldn’t take him back with them. Smokey lived nearby.
There was another tag at the back which asked the hikers not to worry as he would go home when he felt tired. And he even thanked people for being nice to him.
First, Simon thought that it was a joke and had to read it again to understand it. They were lucky to have the hiking dog accompany them on their journey.
Simon said that the dog behaved well and barked only on their return journey when they had to climb down the embankment. The dog seemed quite protective of someone whom he had met a few moments ago. Once they spent enough time in the fall, they decided to return to their starting position. Once again, Smokey accompanied them and led the way.
Smokey escorted them right to their parking position and left only when they had removed their hiking gear. Smokey calmly walked across the road towards the neighborhood. The dog was quite caring towards his new friends and ensured that they got back safely.
Simon had captured these moments on his camera and would never really forget them. Sometimes when we set out on travel, we come across individuals who make the journey even more cherishing.
