Kristen took her 18-month-old son as she did some holiday shopping at Green Acres Mall.

The people of Valley Stream, Long Island had always been kind to her and her baby.

But on this day, a stranger’s compliment struck her as a bit odd.

Kristen took her son into the bathroom at Kohl’s to change his diaper. As she sat him down on the changing station, a woman entered the bathroom.

“That is a beautiful baby,” the woman said.

Normally this type of compliment would be answered with a smile of gratitude from Kristen. Instead, the woman’s words unsettled her.

The woman then began to walk by each of the stalls and check if anyone else was in the bathroom with them.

She walked back to Kirsten and grabbed the baby’s arm. “Give me the baby,” the woman demanded.

Kristen immediately pushed her away. “Give me the baby,” she said again.

Kristen began to panic. She quickly took her son in her arms and ran out of the bathroom.

She found an officer nearby and alerted him to what had happened. Within minutes, multiple officers were on the scene. Kristen later went through the surveillance tapes with the officials in order to identify the woman.

It turns out the woman was already wanted for attempted abduction in another case.

Kristen is sharing the story in hopes that nobody else will be traumatized by this woman again.
