You know how hard it is to go to a supermarket with your kids – you have to watch over them, make sure they don’t sneak in anything to your cart, all the while getting groceries.
For Tawny, it was especially more difficult on this particular day.
And she wrote about her experience to Frank Somerville, a news anchor for KTVU news in Oakland, CA. After hearing about her story, Somerville decided to share it on his Facebook.

As a single mom, Tawny takes care of her four daughters – 9, 5, 2, and 6 weeks old. One day, she drove to Winn Dixie with her kids for groceries.
When she finally got out of the store, Tawny realized that it was pouring rain outside.
Not only that, the battery of her truck was dead. “My phone was disconnected. I have no family to speak of and was on my own,” she wrote.
For the next few hours, Tawny asked for help to anyone she saw. But, everyone ignored her request for a jump. “They all ignored me. Not even a no,” said Tawny.

Just as she thought things couldn’t be any worse, her exhausted and hungry daughters began to cry. Watching them crying, Tawny herself broke down in tears as well. She was stuck.
Then, Tawny heard a knock on the passenger window.
When she looked up, a guy with a cane was standing outside the car. She opened the door, and he handed her a plate of chicken strips and biscuits from the deli and bottles of water.
He said, “Feed those babies and yourself, young lady. I have a tow truck on the way and my wife will be here shortly to take y’all home.”
Soon enough, Tawny and her daughters were safe at home.
But that’s not the end of the story!
According to Tawny, “the next morning the gentleman returned to my house with a mechanic who replaced my battery and alternator and fixed my window. He then left and did not return.
When I asked what I owed the mechanic, he smiled, telling me the older man had paid for all of it.”
That’s why Tawny reached out to Somerville – to thank this anonymous gentleman for helping her when she was falling apart.
This story really reminds us all that people can do amazing things to help each other out.
