In the movies, falling down on the train tracks right before the train is about to arrive is not really a huge deal because we know that the hero won’t die and will manage anyhow to skip his death and jump out of the track.
But that is not what happens in the real life but fortunately, humans are well aware of the fact and certainly keep their safe distance from the tracks as well but this is not what happened with this poor blind man who did not realize how close he was to the tracks and fell down.
At Maryland/DC train station, the security camera captured an incident that does not happen too often and we hope something like this never happens again.
A man, who was visibly blind as he was carrying a cane to check the path he was on, probably could not get how awfully close he was walking to the edge of the track.
By the time he realized it, he suddenly lost his balance and fell off in the pit. But thankfully there was a hero who instantly jumped to save his life.
Brendan Cawley was standing right there on the platform when it happened and he instantly ran and jumped to save the man. But in no time he realized that he will not be able to get the man out alone in time because the train was on his way.
Looking at his heroic act, other passengers standing on the platform rushed to help the two, pulled them out and saved their lives. If they had even wasted a minute or two more, the train would have run over the blind man.
Brendan Cawley said “I saw him getting close to the edge and before I could do anything he fell off. I knew I had to get him out and I ran. I had no other option. I could not have left a man to die in such a situation. I am glad there were other people who came to help us soon enough.”
The blind man was then taken to the hospital for first aid as he suffered no serious injuries.
