A stray dog has made himself at home as he jumped into the car of complete strangers and fell asleep on the seat.
As Rodrigo Coelho told The Dodo, he and his wife were out getting essentials at a pharmacy one February day without knowing that their lives were about to change.
Once the couple made it back to their car and opened the door, a dog allegedly appeared out of nowhere and jumped into their car before falling asleep immediately.
“I had just come out of a pharmacy and I was in the parking lot. My wife opened the door to enter [the car] and this dog came along as if he knew us,” the man said in an interview with The Dodo.
“He settled on the car floor and slept. He seemed relieved to find a safe place to rest.”
As Rodrigo explained, the missing dog’s rugged looks and the smell of garbage quickly gave away that he had been wandering around for some time.
To save the pooch from the streets, the couple brought him back home where he was welcomed by couple’s other dogs.
Rodrigo also posted a video of the stray on social media where other users have allegedly reported seeing the same dog walking around.
Thanks to the power of outreach, the couple has also learned that the dog’s name is Thor and that he has a family who lives a few miles away from their home.
“Thor was happy to find his family, it was very evident. He recognized the couple, the car and even his canine friend who came along,” Rodrigo told The Dodo.
“It made me sure that the right thing was done and everything turned out well.”
