An animal lover from Queensland, Australia found not just one but ten abandoned kittens crying on the side of the road.
Bree Taylor was walking along with her dog along Branch Creek road when a horde of kittens appeared, and her heart broke for the tiny animals.
To her amazement, the ten kittens raced toward her and her dog. Bree was not sure what to do during that moment.
In an interview with Courier Mail, she said that her mind rapidly turned over the possibility that the mother cat was just hiding, waiting to jump on her or her pooch to protect her furry babies.
“Honestly I thought they were little ferals coming out to attack my puppy and sort of stood back ‘cause I thought mumma cat was going to come out,” she expressed.
They waited for a little while and when the momma cat never appeared, Bree and her pooch welcomed the kittens into their hands.
“They came right up, so I sat on the ground and they were purring and really hungry,” Bree said.
She sat there petting the kittens, astonished at how much at ease they were with a stranger. “I just couldn’t believe there were ten and I was just more surprised that all they wanted was a cuddle.”
She knew that she had to do something for the small charmers. “They were very hungry. I knew they weren’t feral because they weren’t hissing they were meowing and jumping on me. They definitely knew what a human was.”
Bree was worried about how she was going to take all ten abandoned kittens to safety. “I was more nervous they were going to get run over by a truck and the fact I couldn’t carry them all.”
She decided to walk her dog home first and return for the kittens with something that she could use to carry all of them.
But when she looked back, the kittens were following her down the road!
The adorable kittens chased her more than one and a half miles to her house. Bree gave them fresh milk and affection.
Then, Bree took to social media to find forever homes for the sweet felines. People started giving their support and news stations started to reach out to her.
It didn’t take long for the furballs to find loving homes, thanks to Bree’s efforts! And of course, she kept one kitty to herself.
