A young college student was found dead in her dorm room after tragically passing away from an undiagnosed blood clot in her lungs.
20-year-old Bethany Nesbitt from Grand Ledge, Michigan, was an aspiring psychology student who lived alone in a dorm room while studying at Indiana’s Grace College.
Just two days before the student was found dead in her room, she allegedly told her family how she was no longer suffering from coronavirus symptoms.
Previously, the 20-year-old, who had asthma, was hospitalized over Covid-19 complications. While she managed to recover from the disease, Bethany had other underlying issues that weren’t detected.
While the coroner confirmed that Covid-19 played “a role in contributing to the death,” the 20-year-old actually died of a “pulmonary embolus that had not been previously detected.”
As the student’s family revealed, Bethany was hospitalized on October 26 after her oxygen levels dropped while she was in coronavirus self-isolation at her dorm.
“On October 28 she told her family she had been fever-free for 24 hours and her oxygen levels were normalizing,” her family added in a statement.
After appearing to be back to her normal self, Bethany continued her bed rest. On the following morning, she was found dead in her dorm room.
“After a complete investigation and autopsy, the cause of death has been ruled natural due to a pulmonary embolus that had not been previously detected,” Kosciusko County Coroner Tony Ciriello declared.
“While COVID did play a role in contributing to the death, it was not caused by COVID.”
Following the girl’s passing, Bethany’s family revealed how she loved Jesus and how she was always careful to adhere to social distancing and wearing a face mask.
“We speak out not to spread fear, but to encourage others to exercise enormous caution as COVID-19 cases continue to rise,” the family stated. They have also launched a GoFundMe fundraiser in an attempt to raise $25,000 for a memorial scholarship in Bethany’s honor.
