We all know that school cafeteria doesn’t provide high-class dining experiences.
Just hearing the name ‘cafeteria’ makes you think of colorless and questionable meals. However, parents and students still expect nutritious and at least tasty food at school.
One student from Blue Island, Illinois has shared photos of the lunches served at Dwight D. Eisenhower High School, saying that the meals are anything but edible.
Amber Christensen was so disgusted by the food that she had to ask for change and speak up. That is why she created an Instagram page to take photos of the rotting and bug-infested meals on her tray.
The Instagram page has many photos of different meals and most of them are sickening to look at.
Speaking about the food at their school cafeteria, Christensen told WBBM-TV: “The hamburgers just looked like straight up raw meat. You just kept seeing rotten apples and oranges.”
If her words are not disturbing enough, she has pictures to prove that their meals are not edible. Some photos even show hair in the food while others are questionable.
“We had some type of meat loaf, Salisbury steak, I don’t really know what it was,” she expressed. “I got sick off of it and went to the school nurse. There were other kids in the nurse’s office that were sick from it too.”
That’s when she started sharing photos and other students are also doing the same by sending videos and photos of the food they have to eat.
“Can someone tell me (what) they are serving our kids at lunch????” one mother asked.
The district’s superintendent said in a statement: “The cafeteria team and the school administration met with students and took action based on their feedback.”
Christensen said that their meals are edible now but “if the food goes back to how it used to be,” she will share photos again on Instagram.
