A student has come up with a creative way to tell left and right apart after struggling with directions for years.

23-year-old D’Kodia Laine from Australia is a communications student who is definitely better at her studies than she is at telling left and right apart.

As the girl revealed, she had always been mocked for her navigation issues and had plenty of incidents when she mistook right for left and vice versa.

To prevent future embarrassments, the student paid a visit to Hunter & Fox Tattoo where she requested the staff to ink initials ‘L’ and ‘R’ on her hands between her thumbs and the wrists.

“My friends would joke about how silly it looks having an adult make the L shape with your hands to differentiate,” Laine recalled in an interview with Daily Mail Australia.

With her new tattoos in their respective places, the 23-year-old now no longer has to make ridiculous L shapes and can manage directions with a simple glance at her hands. Needless to say, her boyfriend likes the new tattoos as well as they will help him stay out of embarrassing situations when he’s with Laine.

As the student revealed, she came upon the idea to get her hands tattooed with L and R after being responsible for a series of wrong turns during her team’s participation in a scavenger hunt at a party. To help her better carry out her role as the team’s navigator, one of the student’s friends drew the letters L and R on her hands.

“It started as a joke but it’s actually super useful and I don’t look dumb making an L with my fingers to figure it out,” Laine added.

Speaking of the creative design was also Laine’s tattoo artist, Lauren Winzer, who proudly shared a photo of her creation on Instagram.

“Not only are tattoos cute, but they can also be super functional! Good luck with all your future directions, happy to help guide you,” she wrote.
