A High school student was shot dead by a bully outside his apartment after he tried to confront him.
16-year-old Samuel Reynolds from Texas, who attended Arlington High School, was shot dead on Friday by a bully after he confronted him for assaulting another teen.
A 15-year-old middle school student shot Samuel dead with a .40 caliber gun in the hallway of the Pinewoods Apartments.
He was rushed to the hospital and later pronounced as dead.
The suspect is currently in police custody after police watched the security camera footage that shows him killing Samuel.
Police Officer Christopher Cook said: “We are sick and tired of children in our community coming in contact with firearms and possessing them and using them.”
“That’s something we want an answer for.”
Arlington Police Chief Will Johnson said that the senseless act of gun violence has no place in society and the hometown community, adding that the case is an emotionally tough case for responding officers, investigators, and medics.
He said we will investigate how a young teen suspect accessed a firearm used in the offense.
After Samuel’s death, a candlelight vigil was held outside Samuel’s school. People paid tribute to the brave teen.
His mother Madison Fletcher wrote on Facebook: “We are having a candlelight vigil for Sam. Anyone who would like to come and be surrounded by his friends and loved ones is more than welcome. We all need to be surrounded by love.”
Samuel was the only child of Madison Fletcher.
A GoFundMe page has been set up by Samuel’s cousin to help his mother with funeral expenses.
The GoFundMe page reads: ‘Please donate what you can, to help cover funeral expenses, and whatever else Madison may need.’
