A 21-year-old woman and her stepfather, 45, have been shot outside of her home she had just purchased in South Carolina.
Laura Ashley Anderson, a college student, and stepfather Charles Nicholas Wall, were killed while Wall was arriving to simply drop off a set of keys to Anderson’s new home.
Wall’s wife, Kimberly, wrote in a heartbreaking post: “I’m devastated. Heartbroken. Confused. Angry. I don’t understand. Who shoots innocent people?”
Ty Sheem Ha Sheem Walters III was arrested and charged after officers said he rear-ended the stepfather who was turning into his stepdaughter’s driveway. He then shot Wall, Anderson, and injured another.
Grieving family members and friends said Anderson had just purchased a small home and was excited to start a new chapter of her life.
In an interview with WPDE-TV, Lynn Lambert, a family friend, said: “She wanted to be a teacher like her momma. She was getting ready to start school. She was getting everything in order. Everything was starting to fall in place for her.”
Walters shot Wall at least twice in the torso and head and hit Anderson at least once in the head. Both the stepdaughter and stepfather were killed.
Another person, Paul McConnel, was struck by gunfire before the shooter bludgeoned him in the head.
McConnell was believed to be interested in purchasing the bunk beds from Anderson.
Kimberly Wall told KBMF-TV: “I’m having to bury one of my children and my husband. It’s such a freak thing. I don’t know why this would happen. I just don’t understand.
“It’s just devastating. I don’t know how we’re going to go forward.”
