When you get your degree you expect a few members of your family to be there at your special moment.
Families are the ones who have supported you throughout the tough journey at university and you only need their support and that work an encouragement. But when those special do not turn around on your special days you feel dejected.
The graduation ceremony gives you a feeling that all your hardships are being rewarded. Students feel that they have accomplished everything and parents have a desire to see their children getting degrees in the graduation ceremony.
Most of the people capture those moments with the help of a camera as those moments are worth remembering and cherishing.
But everyone does not get this love and support as Jeric R. Rivas hailing from Sibuyan Island, Romblon got disappointed on his graduation day when he got a degree from La Concepcion College in San Jose Del Monte City, Philippines.
He earned a degree in criminology and waited for his family to come on his graduation day.
But alas his family did not show up. It was his big day as Rivas was receiving fruit for his hard work in the form of a degree. But when no one came from his home he started crying in a corner. He started feeling jealous of other students.
Everyone’s parents arrived but Rivas was feeling the absence of family as no one was there to see his success.
But this was not the first time. When Rivas got an achievement of the best graduating student in elementary school even then no one came from his family. At times Rivas needed them most because they had to tie a medal around his neck while on stage.
Rivas was living a very hectic life he had to work to make ends meet and get an education. He did odd jobs such as a housemaid, waiter and working in a factory and left his family in order to get an education.
He did not get support from his family but his professors always supported him. Even when he went to stage to get a degree one of his professors hugged him which lessen his pain. He shared his story and asked his parents that he hope that he has made them proud.
We wish success to Rivas in his life ahead.
