A group of kids woke up at 4 am and battled the freezing conditions to make sure a woman who needed kidney dialysis could make it to her hospital appointment.
Patrick Lanigan and his friends, students in New Jersey at Parsippany High School, decided to wake up early and help someone in need.
Their elderly neighbor, Natalie Blair, had an appointment the next day and the ambulance that would take her to the hospital was due to arrive at 6 am.
Patrick’s older brother, Brian, had shoveled the driveway last week but the weather added eight inches of snow again, leaving the driveway impassable.
Brian knew that he would be at work when the ambulance arrived, so they looked at other options to make sure Natalie could go to her appointment.
Kidney dialysis is literally a matter of life and death, so Patrick called up his classmates and they woke up at 4 am to clear the thick snow from the driveway.
Patrick and his friends slept over at his house before they woke up that early morning to remove the heavy snowfall. After half an hour, they managed to clear the way.
Their amazing deed would’ve completely passed unnoticed if Patrick’s father didn’t share a photo of kids.
Patrick’s dad, Peter, took to Twitter and said: “Snow Angels disguised as PHS Srs [seniors], Justin, Pat, Chris, Tyler & Amon got up super early 4.30 (really never slept) to shovel a driveway for a neighbor who needed to get to dialysis.”
The post quickly went viral, and Peter said his son is ‘humbled’ by the attention it has gained for him.
