Olivia Jackson, a Hollywood stuntwoman, who suffered a horrific motorbike accident on the sets of Milla Jovovich starrer Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is suing the producers after her £220k per year career was destroyed.
The 37-year-old is seeking £2.2 million in damages for the 2015 nightmare accident.
Super-fit Olivia pulled off death-defying stunts for top Hollywood actresses including films like Mad Max, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Star Wars.
While performing a motorbike stunt on the sets of Resident Evil in Johannesburg, South Africa, she experienced a horror accident.
A fight scene was cancelled due to an unexpected rain, and Olivia was told to fill in for Milla in a high-speed motorcycle stunt.
However, the stunt, despite being perfectly choreographed, went southways as Olivia was thrown away from her bike after collapsing with a mechanical mobile camera.
The injuries she suffered that day resulted in the amputation of her left arm, half of her face torn down, damage to the neck artery, and severe brain swelling.
Olivia, who is married to David Grant, a top British stuntman, was also left with a painfully twisted spine, broken ribs, punctured lungs, a severed thumb, and a dislocated shoulder.
The impact of the collision was so severe that her left forearm was never found.
Three years after the accident, Buckinghamshire resident Olivia has launched a legal battle in the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria, South Africa, for reimbursement for her injuries.
Olivia was challenged to ride a motorcycle at high-speed at a Mercedes SUV that would be driving straight towards her.
The SUV was installed with a mechanical arm carrying a camera. The camera started filming at ground level and was supposed to raise over Olivia’s head. Unfortunately, the mechanical arm failed to elevate quickly that resulted in a horrible collision.
Olivia was wearing khaki jeans, a torn jacket, and a vest top. The scene demanded Olivia ride without the helmet. The heavy camera slammed right into her upper body, including her face.
She was in a coma for 17 days, and the doctors feared that she would not survive. However, the former professional Thai kick boxer’s fitness and strength helped save her life.
