Kate Middleton recalled which fashion lesson she had to learn after becoming part of the Royal family.
The Duchess of Cambridge always makes stylish appearances at parties or events and never misses a chance to steal the show with her elegance.
In 2016, Kate took part in a Vogue and created the look for herself as she didn’t hire a stylist. She received flak from people for her appearance as people said it was too simple for a duchess.
Kate learned from her mistake and she decided to hire the experts. In April 2019, Kate Middleton’s assistant, Natasha Archer, went on maternity leave, and Virginia Chadwyck Healey is her new stylist now. Kate met Virginia when she was a student and the two studied art history together at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.
When Kate became Duchess, she used to wear worn-out suede ankle boots. No one should be wearing shabby clothes and shoes from the Royal family. The Duchess buys 2 or more identical items in different colors.
After joining the Royal family, Kate still used to wear skirts and dresses that were pretty short and Queen disapproved them. Later Kate and her assistant were told again about the skirt length. The midi-length helps Kate to avoid any awkward situation because something is too short might put her in a wardrobe malfunction.
Another rule is to avoid light dresses and skirts when it’s windy. Kate’s skirt hems are “supplied” with special weights so that the wind can’t put her in any trouble.
The designer outfits are modified according to the rules of the Royal family. The length of an item, the shape of sleeves, the fabric’s transparency, and the neckline depth may be changed by the Royal assistants.
The dresses should be according to the situation and atmosphere. For example, during a trip to Canada, the Duchess wore a red and white dress and her hat was adorned with maple leaves which is the symbol of Canada.
While visiting the poor neighborhoods of New Delhi, an Indian style dress, which only cost 50 British pounds (around $60) was preferred. This is called fashion diplomacy which the Royal family follows.
Kate learned from Queen Elizabeth that a monarch has to wear bright clothes to be visible in the crowd. But if Queen is also present at the same event then Kate opted for pastel or dark colors. According to the protocol, ‘’it’s prohibited to be brighter than the Queen.’’
Another rule is to choose pastel colors and light floor-length dresses for night time events. Talking about nighttime looks, Kate has appeared in many beautiful dresses which were praised by all her fans.
Kate has now learned that she will have to be careful of her reputation. The minor mistake by any member of the royal family becomes headline and the Royals try their best to make any blunder.
