90 Subway Restaurants Have Been Closed Down in Australia With No Plans of Opening Back


Subway is the giant sandwich chain that has restaurants around the world.

The one thing that attracts people to their fabulous sandwich is the freedom to choose.

A person who wishes to munch on these healthy sandwiches has more than 10 to 15 sauces, varied kinds of patties, and buns to choose from which makes it perfect adding with the fact that it is healthy and has very less calories in comparison to normal sandwiches.

But it looks like people of Australia has been losing their interest in this concept as just in last 4 years 90 Subway restaurants have been shut down as the restaurant owners say they are not able to keep up with the food trends of millennial.

The fast-food chain has suffered a drop of 9.2% in the last 4 years as now they have 1,353 but they had 1,444 till the year 2015.

For now, a spokesperson from the chain said they have no plans of opening any new outlet. However, they do anticipate the growth of the chain and for the same; they will only new outlets in commercially successfully regions, if they ever will.

They have also had a major impact on the revenue as their revenue in 2016 was €88.4 million ($145.3 million)which had a major fall as in 2017 it dropped down to €77.6 million ($128.1 million). This is why it is very important for the company to take a step in the retail market soon.

Over the last 10 years, Australian markets have seen a major change in the food choices of people. Thus it is important for Subway to inculcate some changes or additional menu. As per the news, they are trying to go carbs free to give a healthier food choice to people.
