Meghan Markle’s former co-actor has slammed the media for using his own words against him after he branded the Royal gossip as insignificant.
In a previous interview with LBC radio, 57-year-old Wendell Pierce, who appeared in the TV show Suits alongside Meghan, suggested the allegations the royal couple made during their interview with Oprah are insignificant amid pandemic as thousands of lives are being lost every day.
“Today 3,000 people are going to die in America from COVID. A couple of hundred people are going to die, even this hour, in the UK,” the actor said.
“It was quite insensitive and offensive that we are all complicit in this sort of palace … gossip in the midst of so much death. I think it is insignificant.”
Now, however, Pierce appeared to backtrack on his choice of words by saying he was misinterpreted while insisting that Meghan would always have a friend in him.
“I just discovered my words are being used as an attack. Well done British Press. Clarity: The British monarchy is archaic in my American eyes. If slavery, colonialism and apartheid didn’t educate you that they are racist, you failed history,” the actor tweeted.
“I was fortunate to tell Meghan personally I wish her all the best. Predicting this hellacious maelstrom I also told her she would always have a friend in me. Because I had no interest in the interview doesn’t change that.”
As the actor suggested, his decision not to be interested in Meghan’s interview and the gossip surrounding the Royal Family doesn’t mean he doesn’t support Meghan or see her as a friend.
